The 3" Lockback has been one of Santa Fe Stoneworks’ best-selling designs since the 1980s. Designed by renowned knife designer Phil Gibbs, this historic model combines compact proportions, dependable performance, and timeless style in a pocketknife made for everyday carry. Although its engineering and manufacturing have evolved over the decades, the original concept remains unchanged: a refined, reliable knife designed to be used, appreciated, and passed from one generation to the next.

This premium version features a precision CNC-machined stainless-steel frame and a Copper & Brass Wave Damascus blade with a VG-10 stainless-steel cutting core. Solid copper bolsters complement the warm metallic tones of the blade and provide a distinctive contrast to the traditional lockback design, while brass washers support smooth, consistent operation.

Its excellent “walk and talk” action produces a crisp snap as the blade locks securely open and returns firmly to the closed position. The blade is digitally precision-ground and finished with a razor-sharp edge.

About the Blade Steel

Copper & Brass Wave Damascus — VG-10 Stainless-Steel Core

This distinctive blade combines flowing layers of copper and brass with a high-performance VG-10 stainless-steel cutting core. The wave-patterned construction creates warm metallic movement across the blade, while the exposed VG-10 core forms the functional cutting edge. VG-10 provides excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and dependable performance. Because the layered pattern varies naturally from blade to blade, every knife has its own distinctive appearance.

About Azurite, Lapis Lazuli and Bronze

Azurite and lapis lazuli bring together deep blues, bright blue highlights, and natural mineral variation, accented by warm bronze. The contrast between the blue stones and metallic bronze creates a rich, distinctive appearance. Variations in color, matrix, and bronze distribution make every finished piece one of a kind.

Design Details

The deep blues and vivid highlights of the Azurite and Lapis Lazuli are accented by warm bronze, visually connecting the handle to the copper-and-brass pattern of the blade.
